The other day I was listening to a Nerdist Podcast with guest star Robert Rodriguez. He is a director/writer of many hit films I haven't seen, and also Spy Kids. Good job dude. You destroyed my childhood. Do you know how bad I wanted to be a child spy and never got to actualize that dream? I suppose it's not your fault. You are forgiven.
Anyway, the point is that even though I wasn't super familiar with much of his work he was still super interesting. He said something about his writing process that really struck me.
Action before Inspiration.
That is so true. I often wait for inspiration to start writing but I find some of my best work comes out of the times I just sit down and force it. For example, Nanowrimo every year. I successfully complete that every year and even though I don't feel inspired very time I sit down to write, as long as I can convince myself to start typing eventually I find it hard to stop.
So I figured that because I had no idea what to write about here right now I would just do a train of thought post and see where action leads us.
Trains. Shining time station. Why did that guy's hair have that stupid curl at the front? What kind of hair gel did he use? How did he not end up with acne underneath that one spot from the excess grease? Grease 2 is on American Netflix but I haven't seen it on Canadian Netflix. That seems unfair. Unfair like how cool Michelle Phiefer is in that movie. Stephanie will be forever more one of my favourite female characters. You know what she never did? Change for a man. She just wore her reversible leather jacket and made out with people she clearly should have recognized. How do people not recognize others when you can see 80% of their face? Super heroes should really be a bit more careful. Like seriously Superman, cover your face when your doing the illegal vigilante work, don't take off your glasses and be like "I think that'll do right?".
SO that is probably more than enough. My brain takes strange journeys. You should leave a comment of your train of thought. That way I won't feel so crazy. Your starting word is: Pretzels.
Obviously this is not what Robert Rodriguez had in mind... Sorry man, I will go write some beautiful prose to make you proud. (I mean, I won't. I will probably write something about my dog because he is snoring and its funny.)
